8u
PeeWee, CSYBA B Division
RulebookNot stated. The CSYBA 8u document names no base rulebook at all, so anything not in the list below is unsettled.
- Game
- 6 innings. No new inning after 1 hour 45 minutes.
- Runs
- 5 per inning. There is no slaughter rule.
- Official game
- 4 innings, or 3 1/2 if the home team is ahead.
- Field
- 60 foot bases, 40 foot mound.
- Pitching
- Kid-pitch in innings 3 and 4 only. One inning per pitcher; one pitch counts as a full inning. A pitcher who hits 3 batters is removed from pitching.
- Bats
- USA Baseball or USSSA stamp. Wood is fine.
- Team
- 6 players minimum. No substitutes and no borrowed players.
- Fielding
- 10 fielders allowed. If 10, four must be outfielders.
Different from Little League
- Innings 1, 2, 5 and 6 are coach-pitch; 3 and 4 are kid-pitch. In the fall a team may decline to pitch, so ask both coaches before the game which it is.
- There are no walks at all. Coach-pitch is 6 pitches and then the batter is out, unless the last one is a foul. In kid-pitch, 4 balls brings the coach in for 3 more pitches.
- A batter hit by a kid's pitch chooses first base or carrying on with the at-bat. Hit by a coach's pitch, there is no base.
- No bunting.
- On a ball that stays in the infield the batter gets first only, and every other runner gets one base. No extra base on an overthrow, even out of play.
- On a ball that reaches the outfield grass, play stops once a player controls it in the pitcher's circle. A runner two thirds of the way gets the base, less than two thirds goes back.
- Bat thrown once is a warning. Thrown twice, the batter is out.
- You may call balls and strikes from behind the mound or from behind the plate.
- USSSA and BPF 1.15 bats are legal here. Little League Rule 1.10 prohibits them and caps the barrel at 2 5/8 inches.
- Six players is a game. Little League Rule 4.17 will not continue one below nine, or eight by local option.
